Hydraulic testing of specialised water production structures (horizontal collector well) in riverbank filtration systems

چکیده

One of Hungary's strategic water sectors is the supply drinking water, which relies heavily on so-called riverbank filtration systems. About 35-40% national comes from filtered aquifers. Today in Hungary, 40% population; nearly four million people's daily needs are met In future, 75% our sources will be bank-filtered, means that they also great importance for future resource management. The main abstraction device these aquifers well, or a special type horizontal collector well (HCW). work, we focus hydraulic investigation types wells. Using modern modeling software, impact design HCWs groundwater flow conditions can modeled. yield distribution between arms and potential relationships discussed more detail results this presented.

Hydraulic aspects of riverbank filtration—field studies

The Düsseldorf waterworks have been using riverbank filtration since 1870 with bank filtration as the most important source for public water supply in this densely populated and industrialised region. There have been many threats to this supply in the last few decades—e.g. poor river water quality, heavy clogging of the riverbed, accidental pollution—which had to be overcome. First field studie...

Impacts of extreme flooding on riverbank filtration water quality.

Riverbank filtration schemes form a significant component of public water treatment processes on a global level. Understanding the resilience and water quality recovery of these systems following severe flooding is critical for effective water resources management under potential future climate change. This paper assesses the impact of floodplain inundation on the water quality of a shallow aqu...

Occurrence of methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) in riverbank fiftered water and drnking water produced by riverbank filtration. 2.

Bank filtration of river or lake water represents an efficient and natural purification process used for the drinking water production in many countries and at an amount of about 15-16% in Germany. From experiences over decades particularly at the river Rhine and Elbe, it is known that the occurrence of persistent pollutants in river water can represent a problem for the quality of drinking wat...

Riverbed Clogging and Sustainability of Riverbank Filtration

Clogging refers to a reduction of riverbed hydraulic conductivity. Due to difficulties in determining the thickness of the clogging layer, the leakage coefficient (L) is introduced and used to quantify the recoverable portion of bank filtrate. L was determined at several riverbank filtration (RBF) sites in field tests and using an analytical solution. Results were compared with data from simila...

Riverbank filtration potential of pharmaceuticals in a wastewater-impacted stream.

Pharmaceutical contamination of shallow groundwater is a substantial concern in effluent-dominated streams, due to high aqueous mobility, designed bioactivity, and effluent-driven hydraulic gradients. In October and December 2012, effluent contributed approximately 99% and 71%, respectively, to downstream flow in Fourmile Creek, Iowa, USA. Strong hydrologic connectivity was observed between sur...
